Registry - Fall/Winter 2003 Update page to see a WHOLE BUNCH of information on
what has been happening with the registry during 2003 and what our 2003/2004 plans are.
In
the last month, we have... updated the registered GT owner listings and the statistics
pages (we now have over 3,900 GT's registered), caught up the
Photo Gallery (we now have over 300 GT's
featured there), and we have a new
article on 1985 Twister II Mustang GT's!!
News from 10/1/03 We're
pleased to announce that we have gained a new registry / website sponsor on our main
page (Fox-Body Mustang Recognition Guide).
News from 9/16/03 We
have now added a new,
expanded classifieds section to our message board. We have been
considering this move for a long time... incorporating the classifieds into the
message board should make it much more convenient for people to post
advertisements.
News from 8/16/03 The
registered GT owner listings and the statistics
pages have just been updated for registrations received through 8/14/03.
News from 6/9/03 The
registered GT owner listings and the statistics
pages have just been updated for registrations received through 6/5/03.
News from 4/3/03 Spring
is here (hooray!) and we're working regularly on the registry with renewed
enthusiasm!! Check out the GT
Registry - Spring 2003 Update page to see a WHOLE BUNCH of information on
what has been happening with the registry and what our 2003 plans are. We
have also been working diligently on updating our photo
gallery which now features over 200 GT's.
One of our primary goals for 2003 is
to promote the GT Registry and to get
as many GT's registered as we can this year. Please help us out by
spreading the word about the registry. One way you can easily do this
is by
choosing any of the items available in our GT
Registry merchandise store such as license plate frames and decals
to put on your car or shirts and hats to wear to your car-related
activities this year. Also, we will soon have downloadable
registration forms for you to hand out to GT owners at any car events
you attend this year.
News from 3/24/03 The
registered GT owner listings and the statistics
pages have just been updated for registrations received through 3/20/03. We
now have over 3500 GT's registered! Also, check out the new tables we've
created for the statistics page:
% of Registered Hatchbacks by Roof
Type, % of
Registered GT's by Rear Axle Ratio and % of Registered GT's by Transmission.
News from 2/5/03 We're
back to working hard on the registry again after taking a little much-needed
time off for the holidays and to catch up on some things going on in our
personal lives. Many of you probably noticed that both the message
board and the registration forms experienced some downtime around
Christmas. We're very sorry for the inconvenience this caused
everyone. The problems were due to some unexpected difficulties
encountered when we had our ISP move our web site to a different (and hopefully
better, more reliable) server. The good news is that everything is back up and
running great now! Thanks for everyone's patience!
The
registered GT owner listings and the statistics
pages have just been updated for registrations received through
1/29/03. We have a WHOLE BUNCH of new photos to add to the photo
gallery as well as a bunch of other cool things planned for the registry for
2003!!
News from 11/17/02 The
Photo Gallery has been updated and we have a new
article on Canadian Mustang GT's!! We've been working hard on
updating the Photo Gallery over the last month -
we have recently added over 80 new photos. Check it out! We still
have MANY more photos to add so don't worry yet if you've submitted your photos
and they're not there yet. You can read the announcement explaining this here.
While
you're at it, you can also check out our new Canadian
Mustang GT article!!
News from 10/10/02 The
GT Statistics and Registered GT
Owners pages have been updated.
News from 8/18/02 The
GT Registration Forms are BACK ON-LINE!!!!!!!
News from 6/15/02 We
now have a VERY limited number GT Registry decals available!! For
more info on these decals, check out the original
announcement on our message board. If you are interested in ordering
additional decals or didn't have a chance to order before now, please e-mail
us to check on the remaining available styles and colors. Don't wait as
these will go fast!
News from 4/22/02 We
have been working diligently behind the scenes converting our registration
databases from Paradox to Access software and we are nearly finished!! Because
our most of our data has been converted, we have updated our Registered
GT Owner listings and updated our Registry Statistics
page.
News from 3/1/02 We
have been working like crazy lately to update the web site and add some new
features - including our all new GT
Registry Merchandise store, a bunch of new
affiliate vendors, AOL chat
room and an UBB
message board upgrade from version 5.47e to version 6 (which includes a
bunch of new cool features). MANY more major updates are still in the
works... stay tuned!!!
News from 2/5/02 Many
major things are in the works for the GT Registry web site!! - We are
working extremely hard on the registry and registry web site - read all about it
on the Updates page.
News from 3/9/01 Our
New UBB message board is now "open for business"!! - We're really excited to be able to bring you a bunch of cool features with
our message board's new UBB format. Be sure and take some time to register your
username then browse through our new forums... don't forget to introduce yourself (and
your Mustang) over in our new general discussion forum, "The Front Porch". Our old message board
(hosted by InsideTheWeb.com) will no longer exist as of the end of the day today (Friday, March 9).
Registration
and Survey Forms Temporarily Off-Line - Due to our recent ISP switch, we
have temporarily taken down our registration and survey forms until we can get
them reconfigured to run on our new server. They will be back on-line
soon.
ISP Change - Due to our recent ISP switch,
we may also still be experiencing some down-time on our web site as make the
transition from one web host to the other. Thanks for your patience!!
News from 3/4/01
Important Information About Message Board - Our current message board host,
InsideTheWeb,
will soon be shutting down all their message boards due to lack of
funding... We have recently purchased UBB message board software
and are currently in the process of configuring it for our web site. It should
be operational within the next few days (hopefully by Wednesday March 7 or
sooner). This is the same software used by most of the larger Mustang sites on
the web.
According to an e-mailed message we received
about 1 1/2 weeks ago, our old message board (hosted by InsideTheWeb.com) will
no longer exist as of Monday, March 5, however, InsideTheWeb's
more recent web site notice says the message boards will be shutting down
Friday, March 9. You may continue to post on our old board until the
message board is shut down by InsideTheWeb... just remember your posts will be
gone by the end of the week at the latest. We will let you know when our new UBB
boards are ready for use on our Main
Page.
News from 2/25/01 ISP
Change / Message Board Change - In the next couple of weeks, our web site and
message board may experience some down-time as we transfer to a new internet
service provider/web host and switch our message board over to a new UBB format.
Please bear with us... these changes will enable us to bring some exciting new
features to our web site... stay tuned for more info...!
News from 2/4/01 Many
of you have asked for an update on our progress of getting the registry caught
up-to-date, so here you go... At the present time: (1) we are very close
to having the backlog of registrations caught up, (2) we have started accepting donations
and joined the Amazon.com affiliate program to help offset our
expenses and keep this registry / web site free. If you
would like more information, go to our Updates page...
News from 8/28/00
Welcome MustangWeekly.com visitors!
We were pleasantly surprised to find out that our web site was chosen to be featured the week of August 28, 2000 over at MustangWeekly.com. Here's a link to the article - check it out!
GT Registry Update: We are STILL working on the
reorganization of the GT Registry (begun earlier this year). Over the summer, we
have been doing a great deal of behind-the-scenes (non-website related) work on
the GT Registry. For more information and details on this large project, please
look at our GT Registry Reorganization Updates page.
News from 2/3/00
NEW!!! Our all new, long awaited Interactive GT VIN / Door Tag decoders are now on-line! Been wondering what all those codes mean? Now you can find out!!
News from 2/2/00
The registration forms and survey forms have been revised and are now back on-line! Thanks for your patience while we performed our upgrades.
News from 1/23/00
We are currently in the middle of a MASSIVE reorganization of the GT Registry. As many of you have noticed (and inquired about), we have fallen seriously behind on updating the web site and processing the registrations we have been receiving.
One of the primary reasons for this is that we've been struggling for quite awhile with some very outdated computer equipment and software (486 DX2 66 running Windows 3.11!). Now that we have purchased a brand new computer and new software, we are starting to make headway in the LONG process of getting caught up. Want to know how long it will take and how it will affect you? Learn all about it here...
News from 7/8/99
Free production information now available for your car!! A limited amount of production number information has recently become available to owners of some third generation Mustangs (1979-1993). You can get production numbers relating to your car's VIN, colors and production date for free over the phone! Find out more info....
News from 3/13/99
If you're here, you've probably figured out that we've moved!! We are now located at www.mustanggt.org! We are still in the process of moving all of our files over to our new site. Please let us know if you're having a problem accessing anything.
We've added some new features to our web site, too! Be sure and check out the new "Fun Stuff" area.
News from 1/18/99
We just got done updating the Photo Gallery again. We've now got over 70 GT's featured there. We have not yet added any photos received since 11/98 because we first need to process registrations received since then. If you have sent us photos prior to 11/98 and you're sure you have registered your GT but your photos don't show up in the photo gallery then you need to contact us. We have numerous photos we have received that didn't include the required VIN, name and e-mail address and we also have numerous e-mails with photo's attached that didn't come through. We have also received photos from people who for some reason or other, aren't in our registry.
News from 12/13/98
We have updated our registered owners listings. These registered owners have been updated as of 11/1/98. If you've registered during or after November, you will not yet show up on these listings. Between 11/1/98 through today (12/13/98) we've received over 90 new registrations and we will be adding these to our database as soon as we can (definitely after Christmas, however).
News from 11/2/98
If you own a 1983, 1984, 1989 or 1990 GT, please help us out by filling out one of our new surveys. These are additional info surveys to gain info on items not on our standard registration form.
News from 10/6/98
We've added some new info in our Year by Year section! You can now view summaries of engine info, tranny info, production numbers, etc.
News from 8/23/98
OK, you've asked for it and now you've got it! Check out our new listing of owners registered (by car year). These are straight from our registry database and include the following information: name, state, country, car year, bodystyle. These listings include owners only through 7/26/98 so if you've registered during August, don't expect to see your name listed yet.
News from 8/22/98
Since our links page hasn't really been updated for almost TWO years, we thought we'd better revise it...! So, we've gone through, verified links and added some new sections for those of you looking for '82 - '93 Mustang GT specific info for parts and restoration help, pricing, etc. We also added a new "ListBot" link on our main page for those of you who would like to be included on our "mailing list".
News from 8/15/98
We now have our very own 1982-1993 Mustang GT Registry Message Board!! This board was set up to allow 1982-1993 Mustang GT owners a chance to ask questions and/or share information specific to these cars. Feel free to post any questions you have here, especially those related to tech, restoration, places to find parts, etc. Hopefully, this will turn into a valuable resource for those of you looking for GT information (and also cut down on the volume of questions we receive via e-mail that we don't have time to answer).
News from 8/10/98
Need parts?? Looking to buy or sell a 1982-1993 Mustang GT?? The classifieds are now back on-line... and better than ever! We've also updated our Registry Stats page - we now have data on 1,281
GT's!!
We were also recently pleased to learn our web site has won a "Links2Go" Mustang Key Resource award. We are also now listed on Stangnet's new Top 50 Links.
News from 4/8/98
The Photo Gallery has been revised!! We've got over 50 GT's featured there.
News from 1/3/98
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Our busy Summer turned into a busy Fall and Winter... we're still unpacking from our August move! (go to our What's New page to see what we've been doing the last year) We've been working really hard to get caught up on the registry for the last few months. There's so much to do, it's hard to decide what to work on first.
Currently working on catching up registrations.
After we got our Fall '97 "GT Registry News" newsletter done and mailed out (in December), we have been working feverishly to get the 300+ registrations we have sitting here entered into our database. Right now, we are up to registrations received in early September. Anything received after this, we have not yet entered into our database. We're guessing we still have about 150 registrations to go.
Our policy is to respond to all registrations received, however, due to time constraints, we have not yet responded to any registrations we have received since early March 1997. Until we have caught up on entering our backlog of registrations, we are not planning to respond to any of these registrations. Unfortunately, our goal was to have all of our registrations caught up by the end of November, which you can see did not happen!
Also catching up on our e-mail questions. We also have a large volume of unanswered e-mail messages and questions sitting in our in-basket which we're also trying to catch up on. Please realize that you may not receive a prompt response when you e-mail us a question. If you do e-mail us, please try to restrict your questions only to '82-'93 Mustang GT's. Otherwise, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to respond back to you at all. Please be patient and we will get to your e-mail as soon as we can.
Web Page Updates. We're planning to update/upgrade our web pages and move them to a new place in the next 3 or 4 months (if time allows). Then we'll have more room for photos and other info (we're maxed out on our server space right now). We have MANY photos that registry participants have sent us and as of right now, we have NO server space to put them into our "Photo Gallery". Hopefully, we can remedy that problem if we move to a new site.
Dues/Newsletter Subscription Change We have made an important change in our newsletter subscription rates. Please go to our Newsletter Subscription/Dues page to find out the details.
Thanks for your patience!
News from 10/11/97
We've moved!!!!! This has been an incredibly busy and eventful summer for us! As a result, we have neglected the GT Registry since about the beginning of June. If you're a regular visitor here, you have probably noticed that we have not updated these web pages for quite awhile. The main reason for this is that we just purchased and moved into our first house!!! We started packing in July, moved in during August and, of course, we're still trying to unpack our basement full of boxes. In addition, both of us have had to work extra hours at our regular jobs this summer (David worked over 20 12-hour days during June - ugh!). To top it all off, we were out of town one entire week and every weekend during July. As you're probably beginning to see, this has left us very little spare time to do anything else, including our GT Registry duties. ;-)
Our new address:
1982-1993 Mustang GT Registry
c/o David & Kathy Bowers
6901 Northview Drive
Urbandale, IA 50322
Big backlog of GT registrations / e-mail from early June to now!!! We have been falling further and further behind on GT Registry registrations and correspondence since early June because of our move. We're doing our best to get caught up, however this is going to be a long process so please bear with us. Last week (10/1/97), we finally had a chance to download our backlog of e-mail on Compuserve's mail server from mid-July - this totalled over 120 e-mail messages! Prior to this, our computer was down for the move. We are going to try to be caught up by the end of November. If you have sent us a registration or correspondence since early June and have not heard from us by the end of November, please send us a note at mustanggt@mustanggt.org. We're also planning to include a listing of cars/owners we have registered thus far here on the web site (probably by car year, bodystyle, first/last name and state) sometime in the near future (if we have enough server space). This will provide you a sure-fire way of making sure your registration made it through to us.
Thanks for your patience! We make every attempt we can to respond to each and every registry or e-mail message we get. Please be patient with us until we get caught up with our backlog. Thanks for your support!!
News from 3/7/97
We hope you'll enjoy our new "Tech Articles". We've been getting many questions about various technical subjects, so we decided to add a section specially devoted to tech.
We also added a note to our main page announcing our "Unofficial GT Registry Get-Together" at SAAC-22, Road America, Elkhart Lake, WI. Hit the "back" button and go down to the middle of the page to see the announcement.
News from 2/10/97
Well, we finally got around to revising our personal pages. After leaving them basically the same since last March, it was definitely time to change them. We also revised and added some more photos of our '91 Mustang GT to our Mustang pages.
In case you haven't noticed, we have been having troubles with our web page provider, Compuserve, during the last few weeks. They were having problems with their web page server which was causing our pages to either be completely inaccessible or to only partially load. There is very little we can do to correct these problems when they occur (except to keep complaining to Compuserve). Thank you for your patience.
Calling Ted Hawkins...
We are looking for Ted Hawkins (TED_HAWKINS/PCSS1.PCSS1@pcservice.com) with the information on 1989 GT's! We have not been ignoring you... we have been trying to respond to your e-mail for months, but every time we try to respond to you, our messages get returned to us. Here is the message we keep getting..."OpenMail delivery agent not configured
554 TED_HAWKINS/PCSS1.PCSS1@pcservice.com... Remote protocol error". Please send us your snail-mail address so we can write you back. We are interested in any and all information you have on '89 GT's. Thank you!
News from 1/20/97
WE'RE BACK...!!!!
Yes, it's been awhile since we've updated the web page. We've spent the last month (since Christmas) catching up on all the e-mail we've received (over 125 registrations in the last two months, various questions, etc.) and trying to get ready to update the web page. We thought the number of car registrations would slow down around the holidays, but it actually increased! Apparently lots of GT owners must have gotten new computers for Christmas! We are finally caught up to a point where we can update the total numbers of cars registered and get some other maintenance done on the web page.
In the last few months, we also received more new photos for the GT Registry Photo Gallery. We just added 10 more cars to the photo gallery (1/21/97) which brings the total GT's featured there to 23. Check it out!
Other additions to the site this time include a new links section just for people who have registered their GT's with the registry and a new table in the "Statistics" section showing the percentages of transmissions for each year. Of course, you've probably already noticed the new look on our main page, too!
STOLEN CAR UPDATE... Our friend's stolen 1988 Mustang GT was finally found right before Christmas. Well, actually PIECES of it were found - such as fenders, doors, engine, drivetrain, etc. Still missing is the uni-body, roll-cage and a few other items. It didn't get far - it apparently fell victim to a local auto-theft ring and the parts were found at a residence not far from here. Use this as a warning... thieves are out there waiting to steal your GT - take precautions to make sure this doesn't happen to you next!!
News from 11/10/96
STOLEN CAR ALERT!!!!
Please be on the lookout for a stolen 1988 Mustang GT (VIN # 1FABP42E3JF232942). It (along with the car trailer it was on) was stolen from a friend of ours in Des Moines, Iowa on Thursday, November 7. It is Cabernet Red and is heavily modified for road racing. It has a Mercury Capri hatch (bubble-back), a raised fiberglass hood and a 351 Lightning motor. A picture of it (along with a more complete list of mods) can be seen at The Corral. Contact the owner for more info at lacinjw@outofthebox.com.
Our big news for this update is our addition of the 1982-1993 Mustang GT Registry Classified Ads, courtesy of E-page.com. If you have parts or a GT to sell or are in the market for some, please check it out!! We have also been adding more photos to our photo gallery - we still need some '85, '90 and '92 GT photos.
Another interesting addition to our web page is our link to the Mustang Circuit (bottom of main page). This is an ever-growing ring of Mustang sites linked together to form a continuous circuit. This should be great for marathon Mustang web surfing as more and more sites get added to the ring!!
Finally, as usual, due to the overwhelming response to our registry, we're running about one to one and a half months behind on responding to our registrations so if you've registered in the last few months, please bear with us!! We're VERY SORRY for this, however we're going as fast as we can!! We're also behind on replying to e-mail correspondence (although not quite so bad).
News from 10/11/96
Due to popular demand, we've established the "GT Registry Members' Photo Gallery". This is a place where people who have registered their GT's can display photos and stats of their cars. Check it out and let us know what you think! Info on how you can have your GT included in the photo gallery is also there. Hopefully, we will be adding many more registry cars in the near future!
News from 9/22/96
Whew! We've been BUSY this last month scanning in more photos of each year's GT's and putting together some additional information such as VIN decoding for '82-'93 GT's and a chart of magazine road tests. All of this new information is in the "Year by Year" section. Check it out and let us know what you think! This was all done to take advantage of the additional 1 MB of space Compuserve is allowing their personal homepage users.
In addition, we've added some new cars to the registry and added to and rearranged our on-line registration form. We also included some .JPG examples of door data tags and body buck tags linked from the registration form. Finally we've got a whole bunch of new links on the links pages.
Because of all this extra work we've put into the web page, we're running about 1 month behind on responding to all the people who have recently registered. We'll be getting caught up on that job next! Sorry for the delay!!
News from 8/12/96
HOLY COW!! We knew it would be good idea for us to establish a GT Registry registration form on the web, but we've been literally OVERWHELMED by your response!! Since we established the web page, the GT Registry has grown by leaps and bounds.
Here's what we're talking about... From the time we established the registry in January 1994 to March 1996 (when we established the web page), we had 320 GT's registered. This calculates out to about 12 GT's registered per month. Since we've had the web page from March 1996 until now, we have received registrations for about 180 GT's - 158 of these came from the web page. This calculates out to over 45 GT's currently being registered per month!!!
We think this is great! However, it does create a few logistical problems for us. We firmly believe in responding to every GT registration we receive. The problem is that since we've been receiving so many registrations and related e-mail lately, we're having troubles keeping up on our correspondence. Compounding this problem is the fact that we have two small children and we both have full time jobs - in other words, we're SWAMPED at times!
Therefore, we'd like to apologize right now if we don't return your correspondence immediately. Rest assured that sooner or later, you WILL hear from us (that is unless you don't leave a valid e-mail address!). As a side note, we had also originally planned to respond to all the people who signed the guestbook, but just keeping up with the registrations and e-mail keeps us pretty much buried most of the time! So we've had to put that ambition aside for now. Have no fear, though. We'll keep working our hardest to bring you the best GT Registry we can.
Speaking of the guestbook... many of you have probably noticed the troubles we've been having lately with our guestbook (primarily being inaccessible at times, entries disappearing, etc.). Well, hopefully these problems have been solved. Our guestbook provider (Lpage.com) has recently promised that they're done moving the files over to a new, faster, more reliable server. Time will tell! We've also been wanting to archive old guestbook entries and make them available for your viewing, however we've been bumping into Compuserve's 1MB personal web page restriction which has recently been increased to 2 MB. (Yea!!!)
This recent increase in storage space means you will be seeing some additional items being added to the the GT Registry web site!! More specifically, we're planning to add more details and specifications to the "Comparision of the Years" section, among other odds and ends. We'll also be restructuring some of the pages to make them easier to get around in. So... stay tuned and keep coming back to check out our new features!
One other important note... we FINALLY figured out how to receive photos of your GT's via e-mail. (Hey, we're new at this Internet stuff!!) So start sending those cool GT photos to us. We're considering creating a "Featured GT" page and, who knows, your photo could appear in our future 1982-1993 Mustang GT Registry book.
