power door lock switch - 1982-1993 Mustang GT Registry Message Board

please help!!!! trying to locate a power door lock switch for an 86 gt. i've read they're hard if not impossible to find, but sheesh i'm down to only a few strands of hair left

The GT switch is black, it appears that chrome is what is available. I would buy a chrome one & take it apart & use the black trim off of the old one on the new switch. I have not tried this on this switch, but it should be do-able.
Anyone else tried this?

yes yes yes tell me where to get one? i don't care if its green or orange. wouldn't a window switch work? doesn't it do the same kind of function? or how about one for a different car?

thankx for all your help 86rag. i ordered one tonight from mustangs unlimited. with shipping it was 4 bucks cheaper and it came in black. i'd been searching for a "door" lock switch reason being i came up empty. window switch is same thing. i just installed 2 new actuators and i bought a window switch for a corvette at autozone. looked the same, but it had only 5 prongs which i thought was right beings there are only 5 wires. but it only worked in 1 direction. learn something new everyday. especially in this forum

Diest harness; msd 6a ignition; 3g 150 amp alternator
