Default NON-GT bucktag info needed!!!!

Attention... all you 1979-1993 Mustang L, GL, GLX, LX, SVO, Pace Car, etc. AND 1979-1986 Capri owners!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am in need of YOUR help in order to make some more progress on our big bucktag decoding project. To help figure out some of the harder to figure out buck tag codes, I need to look at any non-1982-1993 Mustang GT buck tag info you can give me.

I would like you to post either a photo of your buck tag (attach the file to a reply here) or just type in the buck tag information to a reply on this thread (as it appears on your car's buck tag).

I also need the following information to go along with the buck tag:
  • year and make/model of car (i.e. 1985 Mustang LX)
  • bodystyle of car (i.e. notchback)
  • engine
  • colors (interior and exterior)
  • any options on the car (i.e. power windows, locks, cruise control, rear defrost, etc.)

If I have time, I will try to decode them for you, but I can't make any promises as to how fast that will happen (depends on how many I get).

For those of you wondering, a "buck tag" (aka body tag) is an approximately 2" x 3" stamped metal tag (painted body color) attached to the front your radiator support (either near the hood latch mechanism on earlier years or behind the driver's side headlight on later years). Here is a tag from an '82 GT for reference:

Thank you!!!!!!

Wow!

Would you look at that! They are even looking into Capri’s now!

After years of oppression and being shunned, these GT people are finally acknowledging as!

It's always been hard for our people!

Be free of your chains!

I cut my tag off years ago. I thought no authority would ever want a tag from a sedate looking LX!

Ha, Ha!
That is something I can help you with, between me and my friend, I have access to the following buck tags:

1979 Green 2.8L V6 Coupe
1981 White 2.3L I4 Hatch
1982 Black 5.0L V8 GT Hatch
1989 Tan or Yellow 2.3L I4 Coupe
1988 Blue 5.0L Coupe
1988 White 5.0L V8 GT Hatch

Perhaps my old 1984 2.3L I4 Coupe

And whatever else I can dig up from the junkyards locally.

Here are a couple that may help you out Kathy. The red one is from my 86 Comp Prep SVO and the white one is from my 82 White Magic Capri.

the top left number is the sequence number followed by 61R (body code) and i think the 9D is the color (factory white?) . You may have yourself a cobra if that's what CBR starts with. I think HB is hatchback..

Great find! especially in "DSO 90" -- District Special Order "Export"

John
