Default What recession???

Recession? What recession?

So, it seems that this "global recession"

has not impacted negatively on everyone.
Check this out!

It's a tough life,isn't it???

When I started to post this thread,I'd only seen the first car. That was tacky enough! Then I found the YouTube vid and got really angry!
I won't begin to expound- you can decide for yourselves!
As for the first car:

It's a Mercedes Benz owned by an Abu Dhabi

oil billionaire (naturally).

Featuring the newly developed V10 quad turbo

with 1,600 horsepower and 2800nm of torque
0-100km/h in less than 2secs, 1/4 mile in 6.89 secs

running on biofuel.

That is NOT stainless steel, it is WHITE GOLD!

recessions only effect the middle class and the poor, seems mostly the middle class gets effected though since the poor generally dont own anything to lose in the first place.

Cool useless money on car

Thats what happens when people do not know what to do with there money but to satisfy there greed and pride of showing off.

Really stupid way of showing money to others. I believe its more of a message to Occidental people from them.

It also shows that man cannot handle power and wealth without having the worst come out of there hearts.

Based on Ford's financial news this last quarter, the recession hasn't hit them too bad either...nearly $1b 3Q profit!

Oooooooorrrrrrr! Maybe they are making better cars than GM, Chrysler- even Toyota and Honda????????????? Look at the MPG ratings and safety features. My son's Father-in-law, a long-time Saab devotee, recently bought a Fusion Hybred. He is very particular about his vehicles- and how he spends his money! He is totally in AWE of the features! He sent me a huge e-mail to tell me about it!

Another thing to take note of is, Ford makes special cars for the mass market, like the Mustang. Whatever they're doing to sell these cars to a vast variety of people, it's working.

GM has the Camaro, and Chrysler has their Challenger. Both of them are niche cars, which explains why the Mustang sells waaayyyyy more than both of them. I've certainly seen a lot more 2010 Mustangs on the road than the Camaro.

IMHO the worst possible thing GM did was discontinue the Camaro/Firebird. Look at what happened when Ford replaced the Taurus. They had no choice but to bring back the Taurus for the sales -- yet it was just a name.

I know if I were buying American, it would probably be a Ford. GM would be at the bottom of my list. I think you hit the nail on the head - the Mustang is a sellable car, not just a really neat trip down nostalgia drive for some folks not suffering from the recession...Ford has maintaned some sense of 'family' vs. Corporate (it continues to be a Family company, afterall), and I think that is what has made them successful. GM is the Corporate equivilant of the Government - too many managers (politicians) trying to please the wrong populace (stock holders/voters) for the wrong reason (profits/next election). There are no doubt good folks at GM, just like there are well meaning politicians, but the SYSTEM won't allow them to perform to their full potential.
