Roberto, this sounds like a decent car. Your biggest selling point is that it has the 5-speed.

A stick compared to a comparable AOD car can bring about $1000 more. They are just that much more desirable in the market.

Good automatic cars are slightly easier to find than a typical 5-speed car of this age.

How many miles are on the car and does it have the original motor still?

How badly does it need paint? You might want to hold off in the work is extensive and expensive.

Good solid GT’s of this vintage can be found between $1500-$4000 depending on condition of course. The $5000 and up market generally will include original cars with lower mileage or excellent cars with the right modifications that buyers are looking for.

You will get the highest price generally from May to September.

wow.Thanks,man....car has 130k easy miles, original motor runs great,no coolant loss, good compression, hot ignition.always gararged and until i bought it,maintained anally by Orange ford dealer locally.caris straight, only one typical, tiny rust spot on corner of hatch, otherwise a-ok.i appreciate the advice on the paint,as i may not get it back.i have compressor and could do a decent one-stage enamel job myself.but why? as you mention.i may be able to get away with a touch-up overspray and some clear over that to freshen it up.Maaco locally has one good painter, but for six hundred bucks,no lacquer, just their cheapo, gluey enamel.....HMMMM you have given me good food for thought.New shiny black paint though,on this car, would give me a new -looking automobile.it's a coin toss.maybe a detailing shop could rub it out and be done with it.All I know is,i have to crawl under it tomorrow and put in a lighter clutch cable, and haven't yet got my stitches out.could be worse, though.i have owned four foxes, and my favorite,as you all have heard me lament over ad nauseum, was a 90 lx coupe with a built automatic..........thank you and i'll donate to the registry when i actually have some money in my hands for this posting, trust me,I'm good for it.Pics this week, thanks again....good motoring,as the English say.

I could see doing some real light touching up and detailing to make what you have look it's best.

I always got suspicious when I'd see new paint or obvious patch jobs.

Black has to be the toughest color to deal with.

Keep us posted!

I'm looking for an 86 GT as a matter of fact. I have an 86 GT that I have totalled and I have an 87 and 88GT that I can use to build another. But I would like to know if it has t-tops or not. What color it is along with the interior color as well. PLus I'd like to know where you are.
