I'm gonna go ahead and put this car up for sale or trade. The reason? Today it is a low mileage (50K) unmolested original car so before I start modifying it I figured I'd offer it up for sale to see if someone wanted to preserve it in it current state. If your interested in buying shoot me an pm and we'll talk price (its not gonna be cheap). It is fully documented (more stuff than you can imagine) and has no rust.
Also, where I live a 1980 and earlier car would be easier to modify (smog exempt) so I would also like to entertain offers of a trade for a 80 or earlier fox car. The trade doesn't need to be low mileage or original but does need to be in excelent condition with excelent paint. oh and +/- $$$ depending on car
If I have it in a couple of weeks it goes up on blocks to start on the exhaust, tranny, and rearend swap.

Steve,
As a purist, I'd like to see the car be sold to someone to who will keep it the way it is. It certainly is a real beauty.
Once you start chopping it up, you'll never get the money you will now.
Best of luck in whatever you do with it. The '88 LX 5.0 is gone and now this.
I guess it was time to move on, huh?

Well i'f I wind up keeping it there will not be any choping done to the car. Just bolt on stuff that I can undo fairly easily if I want to.
Not moving on .. regardless i'll have a mustang although it may not be a GT, it may be something like an early cobra.

Steve, where else are you advertising the car?
I could see a lot of potential buyers hailing from different Mustang Clubs if they saw this.
These cars can be kind of seasonal depending on where you live in the world. At certain times of the year they will fetch a great deal more money than others.
This ’83 definitely resembles the cars I often see in Hemming's Motor News.
Low mileage and original Mustangs are sometimes offered for big money, but we never get to see where the selling price falls.

Steve, For what ever it's worth, I recently purchased an '85 GT, all original in mint condition for $8900. I am also in Houston (Clear Lake)

It did (and still does - although I have replacements in the garage) have rust damage on the door and hatch seams though.

Chris,
Right now I've got it posted here and on Foureyedpride. I'm might try and find a more general Mustang website to post it on. I'm not too keen on any paid advertisements right now.
Roger wow!!!
The 85gt's are my favorite fox mustangs and that one you have is awesome. Is that color in that picture reproduced accurately? It almost has an orangish appearance like the 93 Cobra red. Thanks for the heads up on your purchase price. I think the 85's will bring a little bit more money than the other GT's will as they are more desireable. On a diferent note are you a member of any auto club in Houston? I'm new here and would like to join a club.

As it is with anything "collectible" it really just depends on the buyer and seller. A 19K orininal mile 84Gt almost identical to my 83 recently sold on ebay for 7500. You can see in this post what Roger and Mick paid for thier's. I paid 4,900 for mine a couple of years ago (I would even consider selling it for that) Its getting harder and harder to find these things in good shape at a reasonable price, especialy the four eyed cars. They went thru a period of time when they were not appreciated as much as the aero cars and subsequenty were driven into the ground and ultimately junked out, in addition to just being fewer of them produced to begin with. It seems the almost new less than 10,000 mile, been in storage most of it's life $10,000+ cars turn up more often than low milage drivers. Mine? Since i have it for sale here I would say that it would take a 6K to 7K offer to peak my interest.

Hey, both Roger and Steve have two gorgeous red cars.
Steve has a point. Roger, is that the Bright Red or one of those Canyon Reds?

Steve,
I think $6k to $7k is a very reasonable for a car in that condition for its age and originality. Anything less and they'd be stealing it from you.

The car looks great!! it all depends on who wants to buy it....for me it's not worth alot cause i could care less about originality unless it's something collectible and rare....i have an 82 so an 83 doesn't interest me but you may find a guy that wants an 83 GT in great condition thats all original and willing to pay 8g's for it so you really can't put a value to it...it's a matter of the person selling it and buying it

That looks like the original 85 Bright red to me. I used to have one in red from brand new and it looked orange in certain light (especially under gas station lights).

Roller,
Thats the exact car I just got sans motor and trans for $200. from the pics, I dont think you need anything but I'd be willing to donate any interior parts you need (switches, badges, leanses, etc). I wont need them for drag racing. Let me know.

Thanks Meierznutz...... Racking my brain the only thing I can think of that it might need is a glove box.
Mine is a little bit warped and it bugs me. If yours is straight and unfaded I'd like to have it.
Also wouldn't mind havig another radio as the right channel in mine is out.
I wish I could find a decent $200 79 roller and I would leave this one alone.

Very nice car! Wish my engine compartment looked that good. My 42,000 mile original owner car doesn't look anywhere near that good. D*mn mice nesting in it took it's toll. I wouldn't take less than 8k for that car, more if it is optioned higher than it appears...

Steve,
Any serious buyers yet or have you decided what modifications you are going to make?

no serious inquiries. So i'm gonna start moding soon.
Everything taken off the car will be tagged photographed and stored.
1. 1990 HO shortblock with Ported GT40 Heads. Stock HO cam or E303. (already have the longblock) conservative cam because it needs to pass emissions.
2. 1993 T5 Freshened up.
3. 8.8 rearend with 3.73's
4. Dual exhaust (flowmaster, magnaflow, and BBK)
5. The only damaging mod with be subfram connectors. But In my opinion all these cars should get 'em.
My goal is to do all this a "stealthly" as possible. I might even shave the 3 bars off the front of the GT 40 heads.

I have been out for a while, where does time go? The color is called jalapeno red, it is original. I have not joined any local clubs in Houston. I would like to spend more time in the car, just busy.
Roller4v - anything you have found in Houston?
