I recently bought a Honda as a daily driver, and I can't keep both cars. I thought I would give the board a crack at it before I try Ebay. It's an '87 GT convertible 5-speed with the only mods being a K&N air filter and a Dynomax Super Turbo cat-back system. I bought it with 167K and have only put about 41K on it since 1997. I bought it to turn it into a street monster and replace my '67 coupe that needed "too much" restoration work. Well, it turned into a much bigger project and never got any real performance enhancements.
It is a bit rough with 208,000 miles now. A "20 footer" if you will. The paint is actually pretty good. The nose needs a refinish as does the black trim around the windsheild and decklid. The cheesgraters are still there and the headlight lenses are of course yellowed. The fog lights are good, and I have performed the "fog light fix" and replaced the multi-function switch. The top and its seals are still functional, but the seals will leak in a sustained rain, (it's been garaged for the last 4 years). I replaced about half of the parts in the top hydraulic system. It now works perfectly. The interior is scarlet red and faded. All of the window motors were rebuilt, and all of the power accessories work including the original AM/FM tape deck. The carpet was replaced and a few of the panels were redyed. The passenger and rear seats are faded but otherwise in great condition. The driver's seat is worn and there is a 2 in. tear in the left thigh bolster. The front brakes probably have 17K on them. The master cylinder is recent. The tires are Sears/Pirelli on the stock turbines and have about 8K on them. The power steering rack and pump were replaced as soon as I bought the car, (40K ago). The engine is original with a K&N filter and the air silencer removed. I did the 3G alternator upgrade the summer of 2003 and added a new Die-Hard battery. The intake, valve cover, and oil pan gaskets need to be replaced. The transmission is original, and I replaced the clutch, flywheel, and rear main seal about 15,000 miles ago. I replaced the exhaust with the Dynomax stuff around 2000. It sounds pretty good on acceleration, but is very quiet at idle. The heater core and evaporator were replaced in the summer of 2003 along with all the hoses, (including the filter dryer and its hose). The AC is perfect. Two months ago I replaced the entire cooling system. It has a new pump, new radiator, thermostat, clutch fan, and 4 new hoses. That about covers it. Send me an email at griffinchalk@hotmail.com for pictures. I would like to get as close to $2500 as possible for it. Or, if interested, just make me an offer. I'm near Atlanta, GA for anyone that wants to see it.
