I recently was relived of my duties at my job since they are moving to Atlanta, GA. As part of my going away package I got a very nice chunk of change, and they are also paying for all my schooling. After figuring out how much of my money we would need to get us by for the next year so I could concentrate on school without worrying about working my wife decided I could have 5 grand to get whatever car I wanted to be my daily driver. Of course my first and only choice is a Mustang, but I'll be ****ed if I can find any in Minneapolis or anywhere within 200 miles of here. I finally tracked a perfect starter car down on Ebay and had exchanged numerous emails with the owner to make sure it was the car I was looking for. He was in Iowa, about 5 hours from me, but I felt it was worth it to hop on a Greyhound and go pick up the car. It would have been a great ride home. Long story short the bidding was supposed to get over at 11 PM tonight. I checked this morning when I first got up and the bidding was only at $3100 so I was quite confident that I would be able to secure the car because I was going to bid up to 4500 on the car. I checked the auction a couple hours later only to learn that the guy had ended it 9 hours early. I emailed him to find out what happened and he said a local made him an offer he couldn't refuse. Hopefully it was worth it to him because he ended up getting $3050 for a car that I would have been happy to hand over $4000+ for. Oh well, just wanted to vent a little. Now I'm back at square one with no appealing prospects anywhere in sight. If anybody knows of someone that wants to unload a 88 or 89 GT anywhere within 500 miles of Minneapolis point them my way. I have a May 1st deadline set by my wife or I have to settle for somehting I don't really want.

Did you look at the Classified Ads (http://ep.com/ep/csp.html?csp=5699)? There is an '89 convertible for sale in Milwaukee around your price range.

Actually I have checked out the classified ads here. I looked into the Milwaukee car, but I prefer not to have a convertible. Living in Minnesota makes it difficult to own a conv. because we only get about a weeks worth of warm days a year.

I am really interested in the car listed in the Alabama section of the classifieds though. I have traded a couple emails with the owner, I am just trying to figure out the logistics of getting myself down there to drive the car back, or getting the car shipped here. Somebody said that I would be looking at about $1000 to get the car shipped from Alabama to Minnesota though.

My wife thinks I am too picky. I perfer not to get a convertible, and I want the GT body style rather than the LX. I figure if I'm going to do it I should do it right and not make any compromises.

Thanks Mike G. I checked out the ad and emailed the guy. He isn't too far from me, 50 or 60 miles at most. I might be taking a ride out to look at it Friday. I prefer the GT package, but an LX is better than getting a non-Mustang.
