1371527763329.jpgI bought these BOSS emblems probably 15 years ago and have not seen any more since. They came with a story but would like to hear any ideas. here are a few pics from my cell phone, I can get better pictures but this is what I have now. These badges are metal and still have the backing on the adhesive tape.

Interesting!

Any chance they have a Ford part number on them?

No Part # at all. The person that sold them to me did claim to be a Ford employee.

Ok here is a little more of the story I was told when I bought them. The guy claimed to be a ford employee and that they were part of a pre-production program that was to be a BOSS package in 1982 with all the "THE BOSS IS BACK" ads. He also claimed that there were only about 6 sets made and that the program never made it off the ground. I have never seen another set for sale. They are solid metal and weigh about 2.25 ounces not like most of the plastic stick on badges that you see, but don't have mounting posts like many of the older badges do.

We have to be a little suspicious of that comment he made. Like you mention, "The Boss Is Back", was just an advertising gimmick.

If any serious questions arise about the 1982 cars, it's about that short lived Mustang SS press car that some magazines road tested. None were built for public sale. Some people have tried to fake them using cars built way too far into the production year.
