![]() I want to take the screws out of my MAF and clean the element. There is a special screw that holds them in. Does a regular parts store have this small star tool with the center hole? Unless I can clean it another way, I guess I need that special little tool to remove it from the casing.
Thanks Bill |

![]() Hey Bill,
It is a Torx screw that holds down the MAF meter. Don't remember the #size of the torx bit, but these screws are an anti-tamper Torx. That is why you see a center hole in the middle of the screw. Not too sure if a regualr auto parts store will carry this item, but try anyways. Had to pull out my C&L box for my 73mm to confirm this and luckily this kit included this special torx bit. Too bad you are on the other side of the Country. Otherwise, you are welcome to use mine. Good Luck! Rick Last edited by 93 Wht GT; 03-12-2006 at 07:09 PM.. |

![]() I always break out the Dremel, cut a slot in the head of the screw and turn it into a "flat head" screw

![]() Bill!! Ya can buy a cheapie {Chinese} set of Torx sockets, from smaller than the one you need, to the size that removes door strikers and seat belt through-bolts for under $10 at any auto parts store, Wal-Mart, you name it.

![]() Hey Shag!
Yup, we've got them. I work for Grainger, but we are only business to business sales. ![]() Rick |
