Well I lost in court today on a speeding ticket trial. It was total BS but the judges believe whatever the cops say.

Judgment: Guilty. $175 fine.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I am originally from there (Walla Walla), and we had problems with both state troopers as well, since we did all our shopping in Oregon. I am coming back out this summer for vacation, but I am flying so I won't have my Stang : (
Too bad about the ticket. Florida troopers are some of the sneakiest bass terds I have ever seen. Popping out from behind trees, sitting in the median with thier lights off etc. I actually had one tell me that I was doing 97 MPH in a 65. I was in a K car, who was he trying to kid!!! I pointed this out, but he said "all I know is that if you go to court I will testify that this was your speed". What a load! Troopers as a whole do not care about whether or not the ticket is legitamate, just about whether they get credit for ticketing you or not. I better sign off now, I am getting a bit irritated~~~~~~~~~~Later guys and gals!

what a nut...my girlfriend had a K car for 2 years...lucky if those things could hit 70...especially if it was one of those "turbo" jobs...then forget about it

Sorry, I can't say that I agree with those statements. There are good cops and there are bad cops - I've seen both. I'd rather this didn't turn into a cop-bashing thread.

Guess what? I got caught speeding about a year ago. I got pulled over and got a ticket. Did I deserve it? Sure, I got caught breaking the law... Did I like getting caught? Of course not!! But I don't go around saying all cops are bad because of it... it's called taking responsibility for your actions.

I agree with that fully kathy. Rather than bashing all cops because of one bad one, or even worse, bashing all cops becuase we are mad we got caught. I have been caught... 43 times. Not proud of it, but i believe that i deserve nearly every one of em. I haven't gotten that many tickets *18* but i just get caught real often. Not good when you are insuring a 20 year old male on 2 sports cars :O

I cause my high rates, can't blame it on someone else.

Kathy that's exactly why I started this thread, I dissagree with the cop, I did not deserve the fine, I believe the cop was incorrect. I thought I could prove this, I was wrong. Had I been speeding, I would have paid it initally rather than wasting my time in court!

Yes, and if you'll notice, I didn't have an issue with what YOU said. However, I do have a problem with those people who like to make general statements that all cops are bad and don't take responsibility for their own wrong-doing.

Well, you are of course entitled to any opinion that you want to have. I did not say that all cops are bad cops, I said that as a whole I don't think troopers care whether or not the ticket is legitamte, because of the fact that it is a number game with them, like all other police agencies. They have quota's to fill, and some take it to the extreme. I have recieved tickets, which I fought in court for as little as 3 count em 3 MPH over the limit, lost every time. My statement reflects the experiences I have had in particular with Florida State Troopers. The probelm I have is not when I am going 90 and get busted, those things I did of my own volition and deserve the consequences, it is when I am wronged by an action of the police, for which there is no legitamate recourse. Judges, as was stated in the post that started this thread are going to take what the trooper says for fact, because if they don't every case is an us vs them scenario which could not be proven. Not to take anything away from you, I just know what has happened to me, and I feel that the practices of cops (Florida) need to be questioned. We have recently had cases down here where the practices were found to be illegal by the state constitution. The biggest problem I have is that they give tickets here for things that between the speedometer on your car, and the +/- accuracy on the radar are impossible to know for sure. Anyway, I don't wish any harm to come to them, just wish the system in general, the way they enforce speed, traffic violations, etc. could be handled in a way that makes more sense to me. Giving them numbers to beat only motivaztes them to find tickets whether there are any or not.

hey,

i understand what everyone is trying to say here. I dont bash cops, but i dont like them. In my neighborhood everyone takes their nice rides (tons of GT's) and shows/rides them down the strip. Lots of dragging going on. What i dont like is when they either pull you over for showing off your stang or for pulling you over for racing off the line. If your not speeding, then why are they pulling you over. If a guy pulls up to you with a grand am GT and wants to race, im going to show him where he belongs. i think its a pride thing, male thing. But i think it sucks that cops can pull you over just for chirpin your tires a bit. Why dont they worry about other things like drugs/gangs/etc. you know what i mean??

Question

You guys think these places are bad , NC is real bad for pullin people over for having a fast cars.Back in 89 I had my first ford exp. I was drivin a Capri 5.0 this thing really hauled but ,and it was loud.At the time they pulled me over I was going about 35MPH. in a 35MPH zone .I think they pulled me over because of the flowmasters.
