Finally finished my 84GT , I was able to make it the NSCA race held at Great Lakes Dragaway of Memorial Day Weekend. It was almost a year to the day that the car was taken apart. Due to time constraints & other problems, I ran the car in the Street Eliminator class, which is a dial in class.The race ended being rained out but I did gain a little info on the car. It weighed in at 2997.5lbs with a full tank of gas & a full 25lb NOS Bottle. With driver it was 3175lbs. Due to the cool temps & rain in the air I was only able to get in 4 passes, The best et that weekend was Tire Spinning
14.26, which is'nt great , but it is a good place to start. The track was so cold that i could'nt launch the car at anything over 2 grand with out blowing the tires away. The race was rescheduled for the weekend of June 30. Hopefully it will be warmer....For futher info on my car check it out at www.luebkeracing.50megs.com

Thats it? A 14 with NOS? you have to be kidding. My ****box VW 4-cylinder ran a 14.4 all motor with 3 gears!

No that was without any NOS, did'nt even have the lines connected, I just had a full bottle in the car to get the weight. The class I want to run in has a minimum weight of 3050lbs.I never said a 14.26 was great, this was the first time I had the car out since the extensive rebuild it went thru,I aligned it the nite before in the driveway ,just so I could make the race. I only shifted ar 4500 just to make sure the thing would drive straight. I just figured someone might be interested as far the weight compared to what mods have been done on this car. I expect the next time out will be a little different.

Oh and 25lbs? what kind of shot are you planing on running? didnt plan on refiling much huh? I would go back to the 10lb, so that ways my fast a$$ can eat more.

As far as the NOS Tune-Up, I have a 100hp tune up in the car right now.BTW 10lb NOS bottles weigh 25lbs when full. Since this a new car for me & that I've got alot of money tied up in the trans & such, I will be taking small steps. If you a familiar with any type of heads up racing you would know that coming in at the minimum weight for the class you are running in is important. If you are building a car for specific class, you might as well try to meet that weight requirement. The class I am going to run in when I get every thing sorted out is the NSCA BFG TA class. This class is a Heads Up class on a Pro-Tree. The general rules are that Small Block Cars Minimum Weight is 3050lbs, Big Block Cars are 3400lbs.Production Heads Only ,no after market heads allowed. You have to run the BFG Goodrich Drag Radial Tire & 1 Power adder is allowed. Either NOS ,Blower or Turbo. Currently the Big Dogs are running in the 9 second range. The class record holder is a Big Block Nova at 9.22, Following close is Dave Rudisell with a 84 Mustang with a Cleveland Headed Windsor , He has run as fast as a 9.45 with a little bit of NOS. This year I'm just looking at getting my feet wet with the type of racing.I have been a crew member for a Pro Street Car for the last 2 years to get familair with the NOS.I've worked on my car for just about every day of the last year, so just getting to the races is just like winning for me. I'm not to concerned with the ET's yet. As far as the interior , It is complete ,all the side panels are in, the back seat & such. I did replace the front buckets with light weight kirkey racing seats. I saved 23lbs a seat, the stockers are pretty heavy I think they are about 45lbs a seat. I removed all the sound deadners from the car. The tublar front end was alot lighter than the stock stuff.So having the car set with everything you run is important if you trying to get a accurate weight. I've pretty much documented the whole build up on my car at www.luebkeracing.50megs.com ,you can check it out there. Also trying to drum up some support for the NSCA , its a great racing association & they put on a good show. For more information on their series check them out at www.nscaracing.com , they have a online rulebook for all of there classes.I was just hoping to get some feed back as far as being on the right track.I think i am, alot of people forgotten more than I know about Mustangs.
