Smile Two more Important 1988 Production Numbers

Of the 211225 mustangs, of all types, built in 1988, 142785 or 67.6% were Regular Mustangs and 68440 or 32.4% were GT cars of all types. Regular mustangs were 2/3 of all mustangs and GT's were 1/3 of all cars. To build a regular mustang required about 21 to 22 hours or more of work. To build a GT required 22 to 23 or more hours of work. It took longer to build a GT. Ford kept the production line from bogging down by only running a couple of GT's at a time so the extra skilled workers, who only built the GT cars, could keep up with the regular line. By my figures just less than 200 GT's were built each day.
