I grew up in "Gods waiting room" and saw stuff like that all the time. Older folks can't hear and often times have their foot on the gas and don't realize it. Back then cars didn't require your foot on the brake and they'd have it floored thinking they were on the brake... gently slip it into gear and then grannys hairdo would change as she went rocketing fwd or in reverse!
I've seen cars inside post offices, in walls, through walls, crashed into cars in the neighbors driveway (across the street), and the best one I saw was through the garages wall and at the bottom of the pool. A few would blow their transmissions but most of the time they would lay rubber for about 5ft before they figured out what was going on. Then just depending on how close they were they would either get it stopped of crash.

When I was a teen I worked at a grocery store. Twice when getting carts I saw (older) people get in, start up, backup and NEVER LOOK... then BANG they would hit something. Its amazing what people will do sometimes.
