![]() My vote is don't do it, unless you're gonna park it, as Mick said.
I can't imagine you'll be happy goin from a 5.0 to a 2.3. It's just not going to be the same. I think you'll miss the low end grunt your 5.0 has. ------------------ Dave Reiser '92 GT conv. Powerdyne, TFS heads, GT40 int., AOD, 3.73..... |

![]() It's really exciting to see something from that year in such good condition. I think the car is a novelty and belongs on a showroom floor. If it was mine I'd park it,cover it & only take it out on weekends for car shows or related events.
If you absolutely have to let it go then it really needs to go to a collecter or to a museum somewhere where it can be appreciated for its uniqueness & history. The more it's driven around the more likely it will get dinged up or out & out wrecked. There has to be a way to get the car on auction or to get the word out in the right circles that it is on the market. You would not want the car to go out to the general public. Has anyone in your family checked out the cars worth as a collectable? ------------------ '85GT Hatchback White w/ GT Hood Decal MODS: K&N Air Filter '91 H-Pipe 2 1/2 Hooker exhaust w/ Aerochambers Energy Suspension Poly bushings in rack, shock tower & sway bar RESTORATION: Many new parts in Suspension,Drivetrain & EEC IV FUTURE PLANS: Paint job & complete exterior restoration to OEM, Maximum Motorsports strut tower brace & subframe connectors, 8.8 3.55 diff, 2 1/2 SS X-pipe, JBA Egual-length Shorties, Front & Rear Disc Brake Upgrade. ![]() Do it! It will be worth more in the long run. Just remember you wreck it you will have to find a junker. No parts are still made by ford for that car.
![]() I have one word for it tho' NICE!!!!! |

![]() 2.3??? 2.3???? Ohhh, I didn't know that...what is that, a 4 cylinder? Like I said, I don't know anything about SVO's. I would have it as a collector thing, where I keep it covered and display it every now and then.... but to replace Your everyday 5.0? No way. I kinda new to the mustang thing, anyway..so I'm really excited about mine. But, if You had been into them (and owned one) for a long time, i guess I can understand getting kinda bored and wanting something new. But, just imagine having this collector mustang that You'll have to back down from camaros in. I still say BOTH cars is the answer. But, I know I can't afford two cars, or to insure two cars. This really is a tough decision! Good luck, man.

![]() Hey cool... very interesting. I had never really heard of the SVO till' now. That is a very powerful 2.3! I still like the GT better, and You might miss the rumble of the 5.0, like he said. But, rare cars are cool.
Good luck with it......Brant |

![]() That SVO is absolutely beautiful and will certainly be worth more than your GT in the long run. But, I would also not use it for a daily driver. It is best to show it off and drive occasionally. If you sell the GT and get the SVO then can you afford something else that's inexpensive to drive daily like a Ranger or something? As you know, in some ways the SVO was superior to the GT. It was a pretty remarkable car in it's day. Too bad it was misunderstood.

![]() Wes, honestly what would the trade offs be? Could you still do the same stuff in the SVO as you do getting around in the GT?
That SVO is a show car. Your GT as great as it looks could be a show car, and a driver depending on far you take it. Show cars bring a lot of restrictions to owning them, and driving them. Owning a great example (like this one)of an SVO is an opertunity, but at what cost to you? |

![]() Diamonds are rare, and this SVO in a rare gem. To make a point, fine wine the older that it gets the more exspensive it becomes, so a 16 year old SVO with just 30,000 miles on it is a fine gem and an like old bottle of fine wine, with age it just keeps on going up in price.. you can always find a GT Mustang a lot easier in time if you do deside to buy the SVO, but the SVO will always be harder to find when you want one like your fathers.. It's your choice and only you can make the decision.. Good luck in the choice that you make.
