Getting ready to do the torque boxes and subframes.

The floors are surprisingly clean.

The seat bracket crossmember is torn/ripped on the driver side but I got a piece of metal welded in there for now.

I noticed the back driver side floor under the rear seat is a "wavy". It's right where the drain grommet goes into the floor above the torque box. I'm gunna have to get pictures because I'm not sure if I should mess with it or leave it how it is.

This is going to sound weird but what are those 2 round bar looking things that look like they are bolted to the rear seat belt mounting bolts?

Those are the rear seat supports. I tried to take them out but the torx bit stripped out. No idea how im gunna take them out now.. probably gunna end up cutting them off.

Yea, you may have too. Interesting, mine doesn't have those seat supports so I've never seen that before. Could it be it's an aero only thing?

I'm not sure but my 93 had them as well.

I was scraping away alot of the factory overcoating around the torque boxes and found the driver side is pretttty rusty. The more I scraped the worse it got so I'm thinking of cutting this section out and and just welding in new metal with the torque box plates.

Good idea, especially since it's all torn apart right now anyways.

well Kal I am certainly having my doubts at the moment...

im pretty close to junking this GT project and may start working on the crashed 93 LX ive been holding onto for over 4 years.

it's crashed pretty bad but not a spec of rust anywhere on this car.. only reason why I kept it.

Yea, I agree with you there. What would you do, take the quarter panel from the GT and put it on the LX? Or you could rob the torque boxes from the LX and put them on the GT?

I'd rather patch up the GT's than cut up the LX.

I could also use a quarter off of my 92 LX which isn't that bad either.. probably cleaner than the GT.

I know theres factory spot welds on the rocker panel inside the door jamb and inside the hatch but how does it connect to the rest of the body?

I'm not sure, I haven't gotten that far on mine yet. I know the bottom sections (before and after the rear wheel) are spot welded to the inner panels on the bottom edge (I had to weld part of it) but I'm not sure on the top, maybe it's one piece with the roof?

heres the damaged drivers lower torque box

it needs about 8" X 8" patch panel which I may just cut directly out of my LX parts car so I can keep the factory drain grommet.

still not sure what i'm gunna do yet...

the passenger side is in good shape and just needs re-inforcing
