Default my new ride and garage

I never thought I would be making a thread here but man does it feel good lol. It's putting a dent in the 5.0 fund but it is helluva lot better than my mom's garage which I am forbidden to ever use lol.

My car will be backed infront of the pole in the picture below

I am sharing the garage with a friend (it's nice splitting rent in half lol). He has the prime spot but is letting me use a bit more space.

This is directly infront of the door

And just so everyone know's what's up under that cover...

My friend may not be into american muscle but I have been helping him fab up a GTI turbo kit and well it's almost done

I have a bunch of tools and other random crap to setup. We have a compressor on the way and there is a 220 so I can get some welding done.

More pictures to come tomorrow when I move some more crap. I realized I am going to be selling alot of parts and that should take care of rent for a while.

Now let's get to the ride...

I recently picked up an 1991 GT with 93k miles. It is all stock besides a set of MAC headers and Flowmasters. It even retains the original factory air-silencer.

There is also a fair amount of rust issues that I will be addressing in the coming months. I plan on pulling the entire drivetrain and patching all rust with new metal. It will be a great deal of work but I have a healthy motor that will be going in and the car will need to be solid.

The GT:

I have a 93 LX parts-car with a solid engine bay.. much more solid than the bay in the GT. If I can't fabricate the patch panels for the GT, I will be cutting these rails out of the LX.

If I ever get around to fixing the rust on the GT and strengthening the chassis, I will be stripping the drivetrain out of this '92 LX.

The motor:
Healthy stock 302 w/ 150k miles
GT40P Cylinder heads
Cobra Intake Manifold
Crane 1.7 Roller Rockers
24lb Injectors
etc..

It also has tubular control arms, rebuilt 8.8 w/ 4.10 gears, electric fan, fresh black interior and a whole bunch of other goodies.

I recently moved this LX to my garage and I think I'm gunna strip it's guts before I start taking the GT apart. Expect updates and more pictures in the coming months. Finally got this project rolling

I'm trying to get the front suspension removed this weekend. Then hopefully I can move onto the motor/tranny. I got the console and more interior out. More pics later

startin to look like a real garage now lol

the front suspension was giving me problems so i borrowed a compressor and put the 700ftlb snapon gun to use. (buying a compressor soon).

now that the suspension is removed im gunna try and drop the tranny this weekend. good thing i moved the rearend cause ill probably be using those skateboards again haha

i left the spindles attached to the lower arms and rotors so i dont have to redo bearings and what not made it kinda tricky to remove.

ordered a 2 ton engine hoist and 750lb stand for $200 picking em up monday.

I hear ya. I crawled under mine for all of 30 minutes today, got depressed, and walked out. I'm finding it harder to go in my garage.

I wish it was mine haha. Belongs to my friend with the GTI in the background.

I'm in a pickle now though.. as I need to swap the GT suspension into the LX in order to move it out... this weekend should be fun.

My buddy got some hi-res pics.

Can't really see but thats my ugly *** in the first pic. looks like im taking out a buried bellhousing bolt.

The wrinkled radiator support.

The T-5 with the MGW still attached. Clutch isn't that bad either..

These are cellphone pics. Cleaned up the intake a little bit and put the motor on the stand.

Took the EFI harness off and tried to clean-up the lower.

Too bad I hurt my back yesterday or I would have started stripping the GT today (I called out of work haha). Hopefully tomorrow I can get some work done.. I hate being injured on the side lines
