Default Workin on an 85 Capri

I picked up this 85 Capri a few months ago and started throwing $ at it. It's got a stock 5.0/5spd from a 91 GT; they kept it fuel-injected but hacked up some of the original wiring, so my brother an I have been working on that. Also has the 91's 8.8" rear, with 3.73's.

The interior was decent, maybe 6/10. I tore it out for better access to the wiring and to see what shape the floors were in (excellent shape, just one crack under the back seat.) Didn't care about the roll cage so that got cut out. After removing all the factory sound deadener I put down a few coats of rubberized undercoating, then some new deadener in a few places.

Here's some shots of the new carpet, headliner, and work on the interior panels. I added a little deadener to each panel and covered that with closed-cell foam, then painted with SEM charcoal.

New headliner, with map light delete.

New ACC dark gray carpet.

Cool! Good examples of those are tough to come by.

Yeah, that car was the last 4bbl version if it started life as a 5-speed. Only the automatics got that CFI unit. Some stuff had to get tossed and some added to let the '91 EFI motor work in there.

You know, you're not the first person to tell me that... Oh wait you are. Just wait till I get the hood bulge and ASC wing an it'll look marginally better.

Here's a few pics of the seats and hatch carpet installed:

Small update: I finally plugged in the little wiring harness for the backup lights, so those work now. Also put in a couple floor plugs it needed and installed new dew wipes. Now I can reinstall some more trim pieces.

Still to finish for the interior - carpet for the door panels, audio sys and paint/install the new dash pad.

Wasn't this car supposed to be done by the spring?

I finally got it over to a shop earlier this week - they cut out the crappy generic sub-frames and installed MM full length ones. Also made a couple middle pieces of exhaust and installed the mufflers / tailpipes, so now it's got stock '91 headers going to an offroad X pipe, Dynomax Ultraflo's and Flowmaster tails, all 2.5" SS. I'll take some pics of that when I get the car in the air to paint the sub-frames.

And since it was on the trailer, dad an I took it to a local place this morning to get weighed. With ~1/4 tank and me out of the car, she's a svelte 3080lbs.
