Default On the road again

I hooked up a new battery on my 86 yesterday; it was the first one in like 13 years. It fired right up so I took it for a pre-carshow cruise with my 14 year old daughter last night. She'll jump at any chance to go for a ride as she likes the way it pins her back in the seat.

This morning I entered it in my first show in two years. It was a beautiful, sunny day and there were even a half dozen Fox Mustangs in the show. One of them was a 27000 mile 1990 that was still wearing its original Gatorbacks. Mine was the only 4 eyed one.

I even got a chance to check out my uncle's freshly restored 71 Dodge Charger R/T. This one is the sort of car you'd have ordered back then if your plan was to hit the drag strip. The car has no power steering, no power brakes, no power anything. It has drum brakes on all four corners and it came with steel wheels and dog dish hub caps. He basically left every option off the car except an AM radio.

I'm hoping for a ride in it some time in the not too distant future. Combine the 480 lb-ft of torque with the 3.54 rear and that thing feels like getting launched off a carrier.

Good times.
