Default 89 Warranty Card Decode

The door on my white 89 has been replaced, so the door tag is not correct. I have the warranty card so I confirm some items about the original car.

Last numbers on the first line are 42 = Cleveland, OH DSO
Second line -
9L = Oxford White (correct)
PG = Medium Grey Articulated Cloth seats (correct)
08E = ?? This is what I need help with - anyone?
M2 = 2.73L, 5 speed (correct)
9 = AM/FM clock cassette electronic tune radio (not known if this correct since aftermarket radio had been stolen - speakers in car indicate that this was the car came with this radio).

So - can anyone help me with that 08E code?

Thanks - Jerry

My 1992 Summer Edition project convertible had no door data tag on the driver's door jamb. I was questioning whether the car was a factory 5-Speed car or not. I was told by Ford's Customer Service in Dearborn that if I take the Summer Edition convertible to my local Ford dealer they can order a replacement door data label at the Service Department. I haven't tried this yet becuase I haven't gotten the car road-worthy yet.

Also, I when I was on the phone with Ford's Customer Service in Dearborn I requested a production information letter on the two 1990 7-Up convertibles that I still have here and the Summer Edition convertible. I received all three letters in the mail and the letters contain all of the information about the cars' build dates, options, colors, etc., and the information on each car is on Ford letterhead. Oh yes, and I found out in the letter that the Summer Edition convertible is a factory 5-Speed car.

Jerry your 42 code stands for the hatchback GT platform.
Cleveland, OH DSO is 32. The 9L is the Oxford White color. The interior code for Smoke would be G. I am not sure however what the 08E code is. Hope some of this helps.

Thanks to you both.

I have a pretty good parts guy at the local Ford dealership. I never thought about that angle. l1k2 - how long ago did you call Ford in Dearborn? I wonder if they will still answer the phone in Customer Service...

08E is a date code. 8 May
It is probably a couple days after you car was built.
Mine 89GT card has 29E and the car was finished 26 May.

Hi Guys,

I took a look at my own warranty card and mine shows a 29E. I'm not sure what it may be referring to. My letter from Ford Customer Service (dated 9-07) indicated a build date of 5-23-89, so I don't how that date translates to the entry in question on the warranty card.

Looking at my build sheet, there is a reference at the beginning to a catagory called "Rotations Number", and the entry in that box on my sheet is 2929. I don't know what that means and if it has anything to do with the 29E
on the warranty card.

Some interesting questions though.

Just my .02 worth
Jim
