Top speed on an 83?

Does anyone know what it is? just wanted to know, don't feel the need to push her to the top, i've been going about 185KM in 4th, my speedo only goes to 180 so it's a real prob. And Mick is you 83 repainted? i noticed that where you front lights are it's black and mine is red. (i know mines never been repainted)

No, my car has never been painted - that's the stock "blackout" treatment for GTs.

Nope, not on a track. http://64.21.184.154/ubb/eek.gif It was on I-64 in NC, heading to the Outer Beltline in Raleigh from Rocky Mount where I lived before I moved to Knoxville. A trip that normally took 50 minutes only took 25. 5400 RPM in 4th gear(5th will not engage) with a 26" tire and 3.08 rear gearset.

Well im glad to see that the 83 to 85 GT's will top the 135MPH the fastest that i have ever been in my 85 is 125MPH and i could still feel it pulling to want to go faster even with stock 2.73 gears.. but everything that i have ever read on there top speed rateing was 135MPH, but now i no different on this subject.

Keep in mind, mine isn't stock. That calculated speed was accomplished with modifications at the hyperlink below. The only things changed on that list is from the OE 7.5" w/3.08 to 8.8" w/2.73 and from the OE D8OE heads to modified E7TE heads.

Wow thx for posting everyone, i didn't epect that, so what is 135 MPH in KPH? that's wierd that mine is different... Oh well

Im not sure without looking but i sure that 180 KPH is 115 MPH

The conversion factor is 1.6 from MPH to KPH and .621 from KPH to MPH.

135 MPH is 217 KPH
