Dominator GT

Is anyone familiar with the Dominator GT's that were produced in KC in the 80's?

What was done to the Mustang GT's to make them Dominator GT's?

I've heard of a Dominator GT Mustang but I don't believe it was a FoMoCo production Mustang like the Twister Special II was with a Kansas City DSO(see Quick Summary of Productions Numbers (http://www.mustanggt.org/gtnumber.htm)). I think instead it was a specialty(aftermarket)vehicle something like the Saleen Mustangs. If you have substative information confirming it was a FoMoCo Special Edition of some sort, please share the source.

I don't have any information at all, other than my son has owned one for about 8 years.

Since then we have had NO LUCK at all finding out much about them. I don't know if they were an actual Ford Special Edition or not. I basically thought they were just made and sold through a single dealership. I've heard it was called Summit Ford but I have no proof of that and Summit Ford is no longer in business.

I remember seeing 70 Twisters (Mustangs and Torinos) as well as the newer Twister II's and the Dominator GT's back when they were fairly new vehicles, but I haven't seen any Twister II's or Dominators for a long time.

So any info anyone has on the Dominators would be appreciated.

Shane let me know a junk yard got in a black 87 DominatorGT so I run down to the yard that has it. It is in way way worse shape as the Twister. Subrframe is bent from a wreck. It has 3 rod lites on it and the odometer shows almost 90k. This GT has no power windows or locks. 140 mph speedo.

Does anyone know if the Dominators were made from 1982-1990? I remember a buddy mine and I tagged along he bought a 90 escort and I remember seeing like 10 new Dominators lined up for sale. 1990 was the last year that I saw them for sale at Summit Ford. I heard stories from other Stangers telling me that in 82 the Dominators got 4brrl carbs and a few emisions deletes that the Hiway Patrol got wind of. Anymore members here got any more info?

they started the domitator in 1983 the first ones got carb headers and gears from there i dont know.summit ford built all most all of them,that im aware of.
