I bought my 85GT this weekend! WOOHOO!!! 20,175 original miles, it's in MINT condition!!!

I even got the original sales brochure. Under the Options section, it says that the "Remote locking fuel door and trunk/liftgate release" is standard on GTs.

The owner had dealer install A/C put in in 1985 when he bought it, and the had to change the glove box, and it only has the fuel door release. He said that is all he remembers.

Is it possible that the switch is really there, and just behind the box? Or do you think it probably wasn't there at all?

Any thoughts appreciated.

Also, I want to try and find an original owner's manual, and I also want the Electronic AM/FM stereo for it, it has the regular AM/FM in it now. Any thoughts where I could find them?

Trey,
Congratulations on your car!
Let me see if I can shed some light on the fuel door/liftgate question.
I bought mine brand new, only options AOD and rear window defrost. I also have the sales brochure, and it does say remote fuel door/liftgate buttons standard. However, seems that after the car got into production, only the remote fuel door was standard. I'm not sure, but I think the remote liftgate might have come with some other electrical option (power windows, door locks, some sort of convenience group).
I, too, have the standard AM/FM radio. Thought about changing it, but since I show the car and try to keep it factory correct, I decided to keep it. Besides, the audio system is listed on the doorjamb sticker. I get around this by using an FM transmitter plugged into a cassette or CD walkman. Not the greatest, but it works.
Good luck finding an owner's manual. 85s just aren't listed anywhere.
Where to find the electronic AM/FM cassette? Used auto parts place, salvage yard. That's my first thought.
