Looking at a Performance Red 93GT and want to know if it's worth $9000. It has the following: 88,000 miles, 5 spd, cloth interior(spotless, carpet spotless too) white gauge faces, autometer phantoms in a pillar pod, hurst chrome comp plus shifter, aluminum pedal covers, 130amp alt, 18" flex fan, 3-row radiator, blue silicone hoses, underdrive pullies, 1.7 cobra rockers, 70mm mass air, 65mm TB, Cobra intake, Mac shorty headers, Dynomax cat back, 5lug conversion with Real Cobra Rs(low mileage tires), LX taillights, strut tower brace, subframes,3.55 gears, K&N filter and a CD player. The car has used only synthetic oil and has always been regularly maintained with all records. The car has never been wrecked, has glossy original paint, and only minor dings on the body. It's super clean, and even the ashtray door works!!! Let me know what you think. Thanks

What would it cost you to buy a car in this shape, and then do all the aftermarket stuff?
If the car is good as it sounds, has all the goodies you want, and the price is right then try to work on a deal.
Have you looked at any others of the same vintage? If so, how does it price according to condition, and options?
Sometimes it's better to pay a few more bucks for a car that needs like nothing compared to a low price for a project car.
Just do the math!
Let us know how you do.

Performance Red was a '93 SVT Mustang Cobra R and '00 SVT Mustang Cobra R color only.

It's an original Performance Red car. Data decal inside door indicated paint code "ES", that's perfromance red. Performance red was even used on limited cars 1992.

What official FoMoCo documentation do you have that lists Performance Red and not Vibrant Red as OE color for the '92½ LE and any '93-'95 GT or Cobra? I hope this is not something you've seen somewhere on the internet and believed it to be official without substantiating it first. If you do have some sort of official proof as to the correct color name, I'd like to know one way or the other of the source for this information.

If I did know everything, I'd be answering every question. http://64.21.184.154/ubb/tongue.gif If I'm wrong, it would be neither the first nor last time.

The decoder on this site has ES listed as vibrant red.

1. Do you like the car?
2. Can you afford the car?
3. Can you get $7800 of green cash?
If answers to above are yes, take $6800 of the cash, put it in an envelope, and write
$6800 cash on the front. Put the other grand in your pocket. Go lay the envelope on the hood of the car and say....that is all I have. If he doesn't bite, and the car isn't sold by now, he obviously doesn't want to sell it to bad. Check back with him in a week. http://64.21.184.154/ubb/smile.gif

Mick is technically right. "Performance Red" wasn't listed as an available paint for the 93 GT. It was "Vibrant Red" that was available. However, the two paints share the same paint code, ES. In an attempt to try to get some explanation, I traveled to my local Ford dealer's body shop and talked to the head paint guy(their most experienced painter, I should say). He said the paints were identical, hence same paint code. He also said that when the paint was used in the 92-93 production run, it was identified by two names(he called them, in his own terms, what he describes as a sales name and a service name, but I never heard of that). His only explanation for this was that the paint was used on more than one type of vehicle. Anyway, in a nutshell, he said that the paints were the same, just used different names. We walked over to the parts department and looked up touch-up paint for a 93 Vibrant Red Mustang and a 2000 Performance Red Mustang and guess what? They both list "Performance Red" under the same paint code. Hindsight being what it is, I should have just said red and avoided all the 'unrest'. Happy Mustanging!!

High blue book for these cars list out at around $9,000. This car isn't stock...It's been very well maintained and has low mileage. I think this sounds like a heck of a deal if you ask me. I wish that car had been for sale a year ago when I bought mine :) I'd get it if i were you!

But do bargain first! I wheeled and dealed unil I shaved off $1200 on mine :)

Don't let the low mileage or condition push you into buying it. There will always be another one. Because I waited, I got one with 62,000 miles and $1500 lower than what I was willing to pay for the previous Mustangs I looked at. I don't want to sound like a scag, but $9000 seems a tad high to me, but then again I guess it has lots of mods.

Just try to bargain with him first...then take it from there. If you can get him to $8,000 or even lower it would be an awesome deal.

Even after looking at the price books, buying these things differs from place to place, and time of the year. Automatics for instance out where I live sell for about $1000 less than the stick cars. Price books generally don't reflect this.

What are other local cars advertised for?

It's always about condition!

Well are you driving this RED car yet or not?
