I have a 1986 GT that has a build date of 9/86. Is this one of the last 86's made? Where can I find this info? I also need the original MSRP's and option prices for my car as I need to type up a new window sticker. MY VIN : 1FABP28M6GF320072 . Will this VIN help in telling if my car is one of the last? It is an all original 19,000 mile car. One thing that made me think that it was one of the last is that it has three insulating mats under the carpet in the rear compartment area. I also need some NOS parts for this car, any suggestions where to look?

Build dates on the door tags were SCHEDULED build dates - NOT actual. It is possible for a car to have been pulled out of the production line or moved up in the production process for various reasons and not to have actually been assembled in the exact month as the date on the door tag. In the same manner, VIN's do not indicate the order the cars go down the assembly line.

That's a topic for the "Exterior and Interior Restoration" forum. You might try a search through topics in that forum for answers to sources for NOS and reproduction parts.

I have a 93 gt that has the production date of 8/93. I compared my VIN to the 93 production numbers and there were only 61 mustangs built after mine. It could be one of( or the last) fox mustang gt built. It is Silver clearcoat metallic, which I think is rare for the 93. It is the only one I have seen. Also, the original spark plug wires were dated 1994. My car was being built next to the new 1994 models I'm sure.
The car only has 81,000 miles on it, and it looks great. The ground effects need to be repainted, and it has just a couple of minor problems(the usual fox body problems). I thought about selling it, but I am going to keep it and get it in to showroom condition. I used to have an 86gt also. Loved that car. Sold it with 152,000 miles on it. very solid car. I loved the clean look in the 85 and 86 gt's.
