I am looking to buy new shocks and struts and was wondering if a 92 GT had "quad-shocks" in the rear or just two?

Thanks

Horizontal shocks have been OE since mid-'84.

I am curious ...... I have an '87 GT with T-tops. I need to replace my rear shocks as one is leaking. I was thinking that I should also replace the horizontal shocks at the same time. I look under the car to see what shape they are in and don't see but the two standard shocks. What am I missing or am I just completely blind?? Thanks for trying to help a "blind" man!! LOL

Here's an image of the rear suspension (axle assembly, coil spring, control arms, sway bar, vertical dampeners, horizontal dampeners):

See the horizontal shocks attached to the rear axle assembly?

The "Quadra-Shock" rear dampener system was/is OE on '83-'84 Turbo GT, '84-'86 SVO, and all '84½-up Mustangs with a V-8 and solid rear axle asembly.

My 84 doesn't have the quadra-shock set up. Rather, it has the traction bars.

Must be the Turbo GT is lumped in with the latter group of '84½-up V8 cars?

My 84 gt HAS the quad shock / 7.5in. rear. I guess It depends when in 84 the car was made. Just thought I would share that thought.

Late 83 built, my 84 rolled off the assembly line equipped with some running changes due for the 84 model year, yet it retained the 83 front end/body fascia. Last six digits of my VIN: 101438. Probably a New Year's baby. The 83 rear suspension carried over barely in to the 84 model year when the quad-shocks setup appeared and phased out the traction/slapper bars. At the time, the just-released SVO models were able to dramatically demonstrate the handling improvements offered by this suspension design change.
