Hi!
I own a mustang 87 GT cobra and I can see that I have all options except the premium sound system. Can anyone please tell me what is included in a premium sound system.

WOW, Sweden! The word is getting around about this site! Was your 87 mustang originally a Canadian car?

Premium sound in 87 would have meant an OE cassette/receiver with built-in EQ and small amp and 6-speaker sound system (2 on dash, 1 in each door, and 1 on each side of the rear seats. I don't think CD players were even offered then. Correct me if I'm wrong guys.

e-bay search possibly or used from Mustang shops around.

This could be one of several possibilities. I'm going to be going to some of these shops over the next couple of weeks so I'll check around and see what I find.

Hey Mr. Topless
I can see that you are from Canada. Do you know any more information about the GT Cobras? You know, sales brochures or any information on how they were sold etc.

Hey Hans, As for Canadian Mustangs, I believe all Canadian Mustang GT's were called Cobras. However this is only a cosmetic difference only from the US models. They do not have any special characteristics to my knowledge. I have just bought a mint condition 88 Mustang Brochure that I would be happy to scan and mail you as soon as I receive it. I also bought an 89,91 and 94. I'll do a little checking around for your premium sound stereo as well and see what I find. I'll let you know.

Hey Topless, sounds good about your brochures, are they special for the Canada market or is it the "normal" ones? Because I have the "normal" sales brouchure for my 87. About the stereo stuff, I have updated myself a little bit more from different sources and as far as I come now I can see what I´m looking for is the head unit with the graphic equaliser, which then, correct me if i´m wrong, contains the premium sound aswell. If you want to mail me my address is rosberg@mbox303.swipnet.se. So Mr. Topless are you driving your mustang all year around? My 87 is in the garage for half a year but now it´s coming to spring time, and I tell you those ponies wanna come out and play now........

Is there any particular reason you want a factory stereo? Are you going for the factory look or something (maybe showing it?). Aftermarket headunits give MUCH better quality than factory ford ones.

Well I decided to keep my mustang stock since they are not so common here in my country. And once I decided that I thought why not give it all the options that was available. So I think this is the right time trying to get the things since its probably will be harder (more expensive) to find them as times goes.

Hans, i have the regular 88 sales brochure. I've been doing some more digging as well and haven't seen any graphic equalizers yet that go along with the premium stereo. I'm going to one more place tomorrow and I may be lucky. As for my car...it sonly sees the nicest of weather. I want to keep her mint.
