I finally got a chance to look under my 89 5.0lx today. I got kind of a shock. Its got an oil cooler on it! Did some mustangs come from the factory with an oil cooler or has someone put this one on? This is the first one I have ever seen.

The SSP and 2.3L turbo Mustangs had a sandwich-type oil cooler as OE.

Mark, did you buy it new or used? If used, did the previous owner change gears in the car? With AOD-equipped cars, if you change the rear gears, you BETTER put a tranny cooler on there or say goodbye to your AOD.

I know first hand, that's why I have a T-5 now with my 3.73s.

It looks like a factory cooler. It has the hose clamps like ford uses from the factory. Also, what is an SSP mustang? This car is a lx hatchback 5spd,by the way.
